How to Report Dangerous Big Rig Truck Drivers

Rob Rosenthal:

What should you do if you witness an unsafe 18-wheeler driver on the road? We ask Texas attorney Carson Runge in this AskTheLawyers™ Quick Question.

Carson Runge:

I think that if you see an 18-wheeler driver, a commercial motor vehicle driver, driving erratically or irresponsibly, I would highly recommend that you call any 1-800 number that's seen on the trailer or on the tractor itself. I also know that the motor carriers’ names should be listed on the side of the cab door. There have been times—at least once that I can recall off the top of my head—where it was so bad, I called 911 because I was truly afraid that someone was going to get killed on the road in front of him. So calling 1-800 numbers, calling the motor carrier itself once you get home and get into a safe spot, and calling 911 if it's that bad. I highly recommend that you do that.
