Trials require a significant investment of resources.

Money and time are two of the most significant investments paramount to a successful trial. In a personal injury case, it’s important to note that the money invested in trial preparations comes from the law firm and not the client. If an attorney is able to win your case, only then are they paid out of a portion of the winnings.

A successful trial also requires a great deal of preparation in the form of collecting evidence and spending time with the client and their family to discuss the situation. An experienced trial attorney will prepare for every counterargument to your claim, and take the time to collect and document proof that you deserve the compensation you are filing for. Trial preparation often involves a whole team of legal professionals looking to strengthen your case from every possible angle. In personal injury cases, it should be noted that the contingency element of an attorney’s pay ensures that their goals remain in line with your own.

A good attorney will take the time to sit and speak with you and your family.

It’s important for an attorney to take the time to sit down with you and your family to understand the injury or accident, how it occurred, and how it is affecting your lives after the fact. This is important information that an experienced attorney will be able to weave into a comprehensive and sympathetic story to explain your situation to a jury during the trial process.

A successful trial depends on your attorney’s ability to communicate the reality and severity of your situation to the jury responsible for deciding if you deserve compensation or not, and how much if so. It can be stressful to know there is a group of 12 strangers looking at you and deciding the validity and worth of your case, but an experienced attorney will be able to give you an idea of what to expect beforehand and know how to connect with the jury in a real way to help them understand the unique characteristics of each case.

Video Transcript:

Over the years, I’ve taken over one hundred cases before the jury. I also have tried at least 15 cases that involve semi-truck collision, big rig collision, that involve death or serious injuries. Among other things, I’ve tried many other personal injury cases that are taken to trial and to verdict. So the trial requires a lot of investment of money, a lot of investment of time, lot of resources. Also, you as a plaintiff or the victim you have for the first time, you will have 12 strangers look at you and make a decision. So I spend a lot of time maybe at your dining table sitting and talking to you, talking to your family, talking to your friends, making sure that they are able to tell me a story about you, a story that you live with every day. And that is narrated to a jury of 12 people. How your life went since the crash to the present. That’s my job.
