Does Arizona have PIP insurance or something similar? We ask Arizona attorney Tim Tonkin for this AskTheLawyers™ Quick Question.

Tim Tonkin:

So, PIP insurance is not something that we typically here have in Arizona. PIP insurance may be in other states; Personal Injury Protection. We have something very similar to it, which is medical payments coverage, which is offered here in Arizona. MedPay will pay for trips to the doctor, even if you have health insurance or if you don't have health insurance, so it's important to get a little bit of MedPay Coverage. Or if you don't have health insurance even more so, because you may want to go to the doctor and you may not want to have to pay that out-of pocket expense. It's a good coverage to have. Again, like uninsured and underinsured, it's pennies on the dollar for what coverage is actually provided to you, so it’s well worth your money in purchasing it.
