Takata Airbag Failure: Why Are They Unsafe?

Philadelphia Injury Lawyer Warns of Recalled Airbags

Video Transcript:

Rob Rosenthal:

Why are Takata airbags unsafe? We ask Philadelphia attorney Stewart Eisenberg in this AskTheLawyers™ Quick Question.

Stewart Eisenberg:

They had a problem back in 2013 with their airbags; that goes back about seven years ago. Takata was having problems when their airbags exploded. Their igniter would overheat—and an igniter is used to propel the airbag into the driver or the passenger when there's a collision. And that's what we heard about for the last five to seven years, that these airbags were exploding and hurting and killing people. So we thought that problem was in the past, but apparently it's not.
