Rob Rosenthal:

Hey, here's an AskTheLawyers™ Quick Question. Do you know what you should and should not say to the insurance company after a car accident? We ask South Carolina injury attorney, Tyler Bailey.

Tyler Bailey:

You should generally not speak to an insurance company after you've been injured unless your lawyer has advised you otherwise. I'm sorry to say, but most of the time the insurance companies are not your friends and they're out there actually to protect their bottom line interest. So you should contact a personal injury lawyer and allow them to deal with the insurance company.
