Rob Rosenthal:

If you've been injured in an auto accident, should you use your own health insurance at the hospital? That's when we ask Alabama lawyer Sara Williams in this AskTheLawyers™ Quick Question.

Sara Williams:

I highly recommend utilizing or at least ensuring that your own health insurance is on file. Oftentimes, when it comes to hospitals, they have one specific charge for people without insurance, and another charge for people who do have insurance. So what happens is you end up in situations with a higher bill than you would have, if you have not listed your insurance. Either way, we obviously are going to work to ensure that our clients are fully compensated, but obviously if the bills are higher, that is going to affect our clients' end compensation.
