Due to forced closures and a lower revenue stream with citizens staying home in compliance with social distancing orders, many small businesses have been forced to lay off or furlough staff, and even close their doors entirely. Attorney Kathy McArthur of McArthur Law Firm based in Macon, Georgia wanted to do something to help. This is why she established the Macon 30 Day Fund to provide relief to some of these small businesses.
These forgivable loans are designed to provide relief to struggling businesses while they await federal aid. If in the future businesses who received help from the Macon 30 Day Fund would like to pay the favor forward and help another small business in need, they are encouraged but not required to donate money back into the fund to help the next business in trouble.
Not every small business is eligible to receive aid from the Macon 30 Day Fund. In order to qualify for the Macon 30 Day Fund, a business must meet four significant qualifications; they must employ between 3 and 30 people; the business must be based in the Macon-Bibb area of Georgia; the business must have operated for at least one year; and the business must be owned and operated by a Macon-Bibb resident.
